Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee has told MTV that the band's second album will be about vampires.
Having already told Metal Hammer that she's obsessed with Anne Rice, the raven haired singer admitted that the whole idea "is kinda silly, but I saw Van Helsing last week. Oh my God, it was so cool! I love vampire movies, and that was like the best one I've ever seen. I went home and I was so inspired. I just wait until I get inspired, which has been a lot lately, and I just sit there and let it go and I turn on the recorder," she explained. "You go back the next day and you try to weed through it and find the big parts and put it together."
Despite the fact that Lee and Co. are still releasing singles from their major label debut 'Fallen', it doesn't mean they're wresting on their laurels.
"Just because there's still singles coming off from the last album doesn't mean we're not working on this new one at the same time," she continues. "It's just kind of buying us time, I guess, more than anything. And we're taking our time and I'm having fun writing. It's my favourite part. The new material is definitely still sounds like me but it's a lot darker. I've been in a spooky mood lately, so I think it's gonna be kinda spooky. I'd like to use more organs on the record. I wanna make it heavier and softer at the same time. I want to go in a lot of different directions we didn't go on 'Fallen', I want to get different emotions across. Obviously I think there's a spectrum of emotions on 'Fallen', but at the same time I think it's still limited in a lot of ways."
As for rumours that she will be co-writing the as yet untitled new album with former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, Lee said:
"We talked about writing some stuff together, which I think will be fun, but the more I've hung out with my band in the past six months or so, and the more that I've heard what they've been writing, the more inspired I am just to work with the band. We're actually having a lot of fun as we are and I don't really feel we need the help, but I think it could be fun just to experiment with a couple of collaborators."
